DRS Chair meets Presidents of IEA, DESIS, Cumulus and President-elect of WDO in China
In October 2026, Hua Dong, the Chair of DRS met the President of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA), Andrew Thatcher, when giving keynotes at the 2026 International Conference on Human Factors Engineering and Interaction with AI Systems, in Beijing. She then joined the roundtable dialogue at the 2026 Design & Multi-Symbiosis International Conference: Breaking the Edges at Jiangnan University, with Ezio Manzini, the President of DESIS, Lorenzo Imbesi, the President of Cumulus, and Makiko Tsumura, the President-elect of WDO. The dialogue was moderated by Miaosen Gong, and the four guests shared their perspectives on how their organisations are responding to global changes.

DRS InclusiveSIG supports the launch of the Inclusive Design Network China
On 24 October 2026, the Inclusive Design Network China was launched, coordinated by the DRS member Dr Yumei Dong at Jiangnan University and supported by the Inclusive Design Special Interest Group (InclusiveSIG). The network brought more than 60 researchers from different universities in China, many of whom are early-career researchers. The network will explore a new eco-system of inclusive design research, facilitating collaboration among researchers across institutions. Hua Dong, the convenor of the InclusiveSIG and Chair of DRS, attended the launch event, its associated symposium ‘Inclusive Design: Chinese Context and Local Practices’, and the roundtable discussion.
