Call for Submissions: Design4Health 2020 Conference, Amsterdam, the Netherlands

01 Dec 2019 (All Day)

Registration for this event has passed

Established in 2011, Design4Health is a conference that brings together designers and creative practitioners with researchers, clinicians, policy makers and users to discuss, disseminate and test their approaches and methods.

This year, we particularly welcome persons, who consider the role of design in the future of health and care. We invite participation from researchers and practitioners across the areas of design, creative practice and health in order to develop new dialogues and offer different perspectives. The conference explores work, which considers how past trends and current research might inform future practice. We welcome submissions that interrogate methods, ethics, evaluation and how knowledge is mobilised.

We invite submissions in the form of Abstracts (300 word paper proposals) and Posters.

Submissions which consider how past trends and current research might inform future practice are encouraged. For instance, papers which look to the past to build our understanding of citizenship, public health, buildings, and those which reflect on how the role of the designer and healthcare practitioner continues evolve.

Themes:

  • Designing the future of health
  • Designing citizen science and community-driven care
  • Designing for Urban Vitality
  • Care model design
  • Designing personalized eHealth technology
  • Health data design/digital self
  • Sustainable health and wellbeing
  • Wildcard: Designing dystopian futures: Why would you do that? Chindōgu (珍道具) is a prank originating from Japan, which is done by a person seemingly inventing ingenious everyday gadgets that seem like an ideal solution to a particular problem, but are in fact nothing more than a useless gag. How does health respond to the design? Responsibilities and consequences.

We also welcome papers focussed on Methods, Ethics, Evaluation, Education and Training that cross-link into one or more of the themes listed above.

We also ask when the papers are submitted if the author(s) want to bring in an Artefact that will be shown at the exhibition.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday 1st December 2019, 23:59 (CET)

01 Dec 2019 (All Day)
