International Congress of the World Design Summit

The World Design Summit Montréal 2017 is an unprecedented international event where practitioners, academics, influencers and stakeholders from all over the world will gather to address a broad spectrum of issues related to the various disciplines of design. While bolstering the World Design Summit General Assembly that follows, the International Congress will foster the exchange of knowledge and potential crossovers both between and within the design disciplines, as well as bring together a wide range of contents and perspectives.

The applicants selected as speakers or panelists will be invited to join a Congress Cohort based on their topic, stimulating deeper discussions and a Congress experience with more impact. The main objective of each Cohort will be to present one official recommendation to the international organizations participating in the World Design Summit General Assembly, taking place on October 23-25, 2017. The General Assembly is the historic gathering of fifty international organizations, all of whom will develop a joint declaration of intent and an implementation framework for the use of design as an economic driver and as a mechanism to exert positive political, social and environmental change.

For 10 days, attendees will come together to work beyond silos, foster cooperation and enhance scientific and professional development. The Summit will aim to use the unique capacity of design to contribute to the creation of viable solutions to our current challenges.
