The Design Research Society is an international learned society catering for the needs of design researchers, design educators and design professionals.
Membership of the Design Research Society is open to everyone involved with, or associated with, design research in all its forms, from any country, and who support the aims of the society.
There are three levels of membership:
Members
Members of the DRS are those who have paid the annual membership fee £30. In addition to enjoying a number of benefits, members are entitled to nominate and vote in council elections, held once a year, and to attend the annual general meeting.

Student Members
Student Members of the Society are those who have paid the student fee of £30 which covers three years' membership. As with normal membership, student members enjoy a number of benefits as well as being entitled to nominate and vote in council elections, held once a year, and attend the annual general meeting. To be eligible for student membership applicants must provide evidence that they are currently pursuing a post-graduate qualification in a design-related area by filling out an application form prior to purchasing a student membership.

DRS Student Research Bursaries of up to £500 GBP are available to student members. £1500 is available each calendar year.

Fellows
Members of the Society with significant design research experience can apply for Fellow status. This is a distinct award that entitles the use of the suffix FDRS in the members' title. Fellows pay an annual fee of £60.
Honorary Fellows
An occasional lifetime award is made to Fellows of the Design Research Society who have made a significant and sustained contribution to design research. This is an honorary award that entitles the use of the suffix HonFDRS.
