CFA: Designing Food and Designing for Food conference, London

Call for Abstracts: International Conference on Designing food and Designing for Food will be held at London Metropolitan University on 28-29 June  2012 and is is endorsed by the Design Research Society. Deadline for abstracts is 31 October 2011.

The International Conference Designing Food and Designing for Food follows the 1st International Symposium on Food Experience Design held on November 9th, 2010 at London Metropolitan University. The symposium was a representation of the multidisciplinarity, transdisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity of design, food and experiential knowledge. The Conference Designing Food and Designing for Food now wants to expand this concept to academics, researchers and professionals and research students from around the world. What are the disciplines influencing Food Design? How are these many disciplines influencing Food Design and how do these influence each other? Is Food Design now a discipline in its own right? The Conference aims at providing a forum for the presentation and discussion of research on fundamental aspects of Food Design across all domains of application, including food product design, design with food, food packaging, food design history, food engineering, interior design for food, food system design, etc.

We encourage proposals that directly or indirectly advance food design research. The number of presentation sessions is limited, so please submit abstracts early. Submissions can address the following topic areas: Food Product Design, Design With Food, Food Packaging, Interior Design For Food, Food Events Design, Food Science, Food and Five Senses, Emotional Food Design, Food System Design, Experiential Knowledge, Food Service/Management, Food Design History, Food Styling, Other (with regard to multidisciplinarity, transdisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity of Food Design we invite also contributions in areas that are not mentioned above).

The conference encourages researchers and academics to submit abstracts. Authors or accepted abstracts will be invited to submit a full paper which should be 4000-5000 words long maximum. Authors of accepted papers will be invited to present their work at the London Conference in a 30 minutes presentation. Abstracts and papers will be double blind reviewed by members of the Reviewing Committee.
