Discussion
Email discussion forums are a primary way in which researchers, irrespective of geographic location, can discuss issues of interest with each other. Such discussions range from general topics through specialist interests such as doctoral education. In addition, from 2007 DRS is introducing a number of Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The first of these, on experiential knowledge, has an associated discussion forum intended to promote well focused debate among participants. Discussion forums organised by DRS are hosted by the UK JISCMAIL system. To join these discussions it is necessary to subscribe, free of charge.
PhD-Design discussion forum
PHD-DESIGN is one of the most active discussion lists for design research. It is open for unmoderated discussion on all matters related to the PhD in design. Topics include philosophies and theories of design, research methods, curriculum development, and relations between theory and practice. The forum was set up following the Ohio conference Doctoral Education in Design, held in 1998.
