DRS Member Benefits
Member subscriptions are vital in allowing the Society to achieve its objectives in promoting Design Research in all its forms and across all disciplines. The DRS Council work voluntarily and member subscriptions allow us to organise international conferences and events as well as providing student bursaries. We are always looking for members to become more involved with the Society so let us know if you have ideas which can help achieve our objectives.

Discount to the DRS biennial conference
The biennial DRS conference is one of the major international platforms for design research. Many of the papers presented contribute significantly to the design research knowledge base. DRS members are entitled to a discounted conference fee.

Discount to DRS sponsored events
DRS sponsors design research events internationally. DRS members are informed of such events and entitled to discounted delegate fees.

The opportunity to form and be a part of Special Interest Groups
Members benefit from the opportunity to be involved in one of the Society's Special Interest Groups (SIGs) which are designed to encourage debate and disseminate ideas on academic research and teaching in a focused research area. SIGs form specialist streams at the DRS Biennial Conferences.

Design Research News
The Design Research Newsletter is sponsored by the Society, and is a monthly emailed newsletter with up to date information on design research events, current calls for papers for journals and conferences, job opportunities, and other events and announcements.
DRN is run on behalf of the DRS and members can subscribe for free. In the interests of wider dissemination of research news, DRN is also open to other subscribers with a current membership of over 9000.

Members are entitled up to 50% discount for several leading art and design journals including:

Both Gower Publishing and Elsevier Publishing offer discounts on a variety of publications for DRS members.
The opportunity to become a Fellow of the DRS
Members of the Design Research Society who have significant experience in design research can apply to be elected to Fellow of the DRS.
Fellowship of the DRS has significant benefits including:
- Conferment acknowledges an established record of achievement in design research.
- Personal use of the suffix FDRS in recognition of being a Fellow of the Society.
- Attainment provides peer recognition as a researcher of professional standing and competence.
- Member of a network of leading international design researchers at the cutting edge of their subjects.
- Fellows are entitled to all the regular benefits of membership.
If you are a DRS member, you may apply to become a Fellow of the Society at any time. Applications are reviewed by the Fellows Election Committee, chaired by the President, Professor Nigel Cross.
